What we collect, what we do not, and how to ask us to delete it.
This page explains what data SafariKenya collects, what we do with it, and how to ask us to delete it. The short version: we collect as little as we can, and we sell none of it.
What we collect when you read the site
When you visit any page on SafariKenya we collect anonymous traffic data — pageviews, referrer, browser type, country-level location — through privacy-preserving analytics. We do not use Google Analytics or any analytics product that builds cross-site profiles of you. We do not store IP addresses in identifiable form.
What we collect when you subscribe to the newsletter
Your email address, the date you subscribed, and which of our emails you opened or clicked. We use this only to send you the newsletter you signed up for. We do not sell, rent, or share this list with anyone. You can unsubscribe in one click from any email.
What we collect when you write to us
The email you send and any information you include in it. We retain editorial correspondence for the duration of the matter discussed and a reasonable period afterwards.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep the site functional. We do not set advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party social cookies on entry. Where embedded content (a YouTube video, a map) loads cookies from a third party, we tell you on the page where this happens.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to the editors with "Privacy" in the subject line and we will respond within 30 days.
Affiliate links
When you follow an affiliate link from our site, the destination (e.g. Booking.com) sets its own cookies according to its own privacy policy. We have no control over those cookies. You can read about them on the partner's site.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will note the change with a date at the bottom of this page.
